Balloon Sinuplasty

Balloon Sinuplasty is a new 'minimally invasive' method of performing endoscopic sinus surgery. Traditional surgery includes using endoscopic instruments to incise the opening of the sinuses in order to widen the access into each individual sinus. This method is a proven way of achieving better sinus drainage pathway into the nasal cavity.

With Balloon Sinuplasty, endoscopic balloons similar to those used for cardiac angioplasty are used to widen the natural openings of the sinuses without making mucosal incisions. This often leads to less tissue swelling and minimal postoperative bleeding. Patients can also expect a smoother recovery and faster return to work.

The doctors at Head & Neck Surgical Group currently use both balloon systems devised by Acclarent Medical and by Entellus Medical. Your doctor can examine you and determine if you are a candidate for Balloon sinuplasty.
